Everything HP buys goes…

BAD in general

I just learned they bought SGI, what once was Silicon Graphics, in its time a legendary computer manufacturer responsible for bringing very significant advancement to the industry.

What HP now called HPE has acquired: – this is not an extensive list

  • Compaq and with it came Digital Equipment the old DEC
  • EDS which later was reported as a loss.
  • 3COM
  • Palm. It went nowhere with it
  • Autonomy. Which resulted in an $8.8 billion accounting charge, meaning a loss and they’re even planning to get rid of the software division altogether.

What’s the future of SGI then? For what I’ve seen, certainly not bright. I do not have high hopes.
